Prof. dr hab. Jerzy Zajadło, znakomity prawnik, filozof i naukowiec, jest specjalistą w zakresie teorii i filozofii prawa. Od początku swojej zawodowej drogi jest związany z Uniwersytetem Gdańskim, obecnie jest kierownikiem Katedry Teorii i Filozofii Państwa i Prawa na Wydziale Prawa i Administracji Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego, a także kierownikiem Studiów Doktoranckich w zakresie prawa. Bogaty dorobek naukowy profesora obejmuje ponad 300 naukowych publikacji, w tym monografii, artykułów, recenzji i haseł encyklopedycznych. Są wśród nich mi.in. prace zakresu współczesnej niemieckiej filozofii prawa, filozofii prawa międzynarodowego, czy opracowania nowatorskiej koncepcji tzw. trudnych przypadków (hard cases). Do ważniejszych dzieł należą m.in. „Filozofia prawa” (Wydawnictwo Naukowe PWN), „Filozofia prawa w pytaniach i odpowiedziach” (LexisNexis Polska), „Po co prawnikom filozofia prawa?” (Wolters Kluwer Polska) czy „Wymowa prawnicza” (Wydawnictwo C.H.Beck). Zainteresowania naukowe prof. Zajadło koncentruje przede wszystkim wokół problemu prawa naturalnego, początkowo w ramach tzw. nowożytnej szkoły prawa natury XVII i XVIII wieku, obecnie głównie na tle współczesnej niemieckiej filozofii prawa. Należy do wąskiego grona wybitnych naukowców, którzy znajdują czas na popularyzowanie wiedzy prawnej na łamach wielu czasopism. Prof. Jerzy Zajadło jest także członkiem-korespondentem Polskiej Akademii Umiejętności w Krakowie oraz laureatem nagrody „Nauczyciel Roku” im. Krzysztofa Celestyna Mrongowiusza dla najlepszych nauczycieli akademickich Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego (2007 rok).

The Lemkin Memorial Lecture is an honorary annual lecture established in 2019, hosted by the AMU Student Society of Constitutional Law and its section, the Rafał Lemkin Human Rights Society, in cooperation with the Department of Constitutional Law of the Adam Mickiewicz University’s Law School in commemoration of Dr. Rafał Lemkin, considered one of the most influential figures in the history of the international human rights protection.
The Lecture is the highest honor the AMU Student Society of Constitutional Law confers for distinguished intellectual achievement in the jurisprudence and international human rights protection.

Prof. Jerzy Zajadło, M.Phil., S.J.D., D.Sc.
Lawyer, philosopher and academic, is a specialist in the theory and philosophy of law. From the outset, his career has been linked to the University of Gdańsk and he is currently head of the Department of Theory and Philosophy of State and Law at the University’s Faculty of Law and Administration and also head of Doctoral Studies in Law. His expansive academic legacy stands at more than 300 publications – monographs, articles, reviews and encyclopaedic entries, embracing contemporary German philosophy of law, the philosophy of international law and innovative work on so-called ‘hard cases’.
His most important works include Filozofia prawa/ThePhilosophy of Law (Wydawnictwo Naukowe PWN), Filozofia prawa w pytaniach i odpowiedziach/The Phiosophy of Law in Questions and Answers (LexisNexis Polska), Po co prawnikom filozofia prawa?/Why do Lawyers Need the Philosophy of Law? (Wolters Kluwer Polska) and Wymowa prawnicza/Legal Oratory (C.H.Beck). He is primarily interested in issues of natural law, initially as part of the so-called modern school of natural law of the 17th and 18th century and at present mainly against the background of contemporary German philosophy of law. He is one of a select few individuals to find time to popularise awareness of law in a range of magazines. He is also a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Learning in Cracow and winner of the 2007 Krzysztof Celestyn Mrongowiusz Prize for the University of Gdańsk’s ‘Teacher of the Year’.
